who gets hired when nobody needs help?

junior hiring is shrinking as ai lets one person do the work of whole teams. what happens when the next generation of models arrives?

it has already started. with ai, one person can handle ideas, prototypes, design, development, testing, deployment, and operations.

anthropic has been hiring for a smaller share of junior technical positions. this occurred as hours worked by ai agents relative to employees rapidly expanded. by august interactive ai agent hours outnumbered employees’ six to one.

agents flit through slack chats and schedule meetings. they autonomously fix bugs and collectively tackle huge engineering projects. agent hours worked outnumber human hours 6 to 1.

decline of entry-level technical hiring at anthropic

i’m already running multiple products at once. work that once needed whole teams.

it’s terrifying to think what, and most importantly who, the next generation of models will be able to replace.
